Bionic reading converter
Paste text below and it converts instantly. Each word gets its opening letters bolded, which gives your eye a fixed anchor to jump to instead of scanning the whole word. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
What the converter actually does
Bionic-style formatting bolds the first portion of each word. Short words get one bolded letter, longer words get more, so the bolded fragment stays roughly proportional. The claim is that your brain completes the rest of the word from the bolded prefix, so you fixate less on each word. Evidence for a genuine speed gain is mixed, but many readers report the page feels easier to hold attention on, which matters more for a long backlog than raw WPM.
Fixation strength
- Light — roughly a third of each word. Least visually noisy, good for long sessions.
- Medium — about half. The default, and closest to what most bionic tools produce.
- Heavy — around two thirds. Strongest anchor, but the contrast between bold and plain drops.
Why convert instead of just reading?
The converter is useful when the text is going somewhere else — a document you'll print, a passage you're studying, notes you want to re-read. If you just want to get through the text now, skip the conversion and open it in the reader, where Bionic is one of six modes and you can pair it with pacing.
Privacy
The conversion is plain JavaScript running on this page. Your text never leaves the browser, there is no upload, and closing the tab discards it. See the privacy policy.
